AG Investigation Into Misappropriation to Begin
Various county officials are expected to be interviewed in the AG’s inquiry of the 10-year-long misappropriation of an estimated $20 million in restricted treasury funds.
“The first witnesses are ‘low level’ county employees,” said an informed source speaking on the condition of anonymity.
The investigation is expected to continue through the week.

Happy to see the AG here; but they need to re-think the idea that the misappropriation was limited to just the previous 10 years.
20 years is very much closer to the mark.
Good luck to all...and may the truth prevail.

Went to last night's financial rescue discussion. The meeting went very well until the last thirty minutes when Cantrall anounced that derrogatory comments would not be allowed and then a few minutes later allowed a woman in the audience all the time she wanted to bad mouth freedom of speech and freedom of the press by mean, dispicable comments about this blog and the people who use it to express themselves and get the truth out. A few minutes later when a man tried to speak on a subject Cantrall disagreed with he was called out of order and told there would be no public comment time at this meeting. Way to go Cantrall, true to form. Shut down any voice you disagree with. It would have been a nearly picture perfect meeting if not for that.
Ron, I thought the meeting was cancelled because it was supposed to be broadcast live on the county website, but was not.
Geri Byrne was no better at the first meeting. First she said no off topic discussions, and then allowed Doug Knox to take the floor advertising for his local upcoming Tea Party event which had nothing to do with the current budget priorities. Just goes to show that no matter which BOS member we get to chair a meeting or make an agenda item they still play favorites.
To 10:05: The meeting started about fifteen minutes late because a tech was attempting to correct the problem with the sound recording system but did not get it repaired. The meeting did get recorded by Don Knox of the TEA party.
The BIG problem with bringing our system into total legal compliance is that most of those guilty of violations don't think they did anything wrong because "the greater good was done". That type of thinking "I know best and to hell with the law" is what we need to rid our county of. Just listen to the present BOS Chairwoman rant during meetings and that overall attitude shows through clearly.
Good point ANM. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
They're going to save us! Looks like an army being sent to Sacramento to convince the state to agree to the "pay ourselves back" plan of returning money to the treasury. Cantrall is sending herself and just about everybody else including our wonderful Redding lawyer (Modoc County doesn't have any good lawyers). With Supervisor Cantrall in charge we should have nothing to worry about. If those people in Sacramento want to be disagreeable Cantrall can handle them smartly by offering to blow their heads off or blow smoke in their face til they die. They'll quickly learn not to mess with Pat Cantrall or Modoc County. Such a great thing was done when Supervisor Cantrall was installed as chair of the BOS. Now we'll see her greatness at work to save us from those idiots that think we should comply with all those silly laws. Not sure why she left Shorty off the list of soldiers going to Sacramento.
