Macsay Lingers On At MMC

Former Supervisor Dan Macsay has informed the Modoc Medical Center board of directors that he intends to continue as an official participant in the formalities of transferring the governing authority for the hospital from the county to the newly formed district.

While Macsay, whose tenure on the board expired Jan. 3 with the swearing in of Supervisors-elect Geri Byrne and Dave Allan, did not immediately respond to an e-mail query seeking comment on his announcement, a member of the hospital’s board confirmed that the former chair of the Board of Supervisors had recently expressed his intentions to the directors.

It is not clear what action the new Board of Supervisors will take in response to Macsay’s unilateral position when it convenes on Jan. 11, but one source in county government said the board will probably replace Macsay.
