Not because of victories I sing, having none, but for the common sunshine, the breeze, the largess of the spring. Not for victory but for the day's work done as well as I was able; not for a seat upon the dais but at the common table. Poets.org | ||||||||

Editorial
Our Pledge
As 2010 closes the books on the misappropriation of nearly $20 million from the treasury, we want to thank all our readers for supporting our efforts in covering what has become the most scandalous financial story to ever strike Modoc County.
Your constant posting of comments to the Modoc County Daily News Blog not only enlightened us, but was symbolic of a new and empowered citizenry that sent a clear and politically muscular message to our elected officials.
You, the citizens of Modoc County, will no longer tolerate hidden agendas, closed door politics, arrogance, malfeasance in office and the outright demeaning of your right to speak out -- even anonymously.
We honor your coming forward and challenging our political leaders, especially the Modoc County Board of Supervisors, and we promise you that we will follow this story wherever it takes us.
